Cantos Helios

The Cantos Helios Triptych is an homage to solar power; it speaks to humanity’s current engagement with the promise and the peril of the sun’s power. Solar energies are visualized through the vertically running registers of asemic writing, revealed through the work’s abraded surfaces. The triptych embodies the diurnal arc of the sun— its rise, zenith and descent over the earth—whose energies are magnified through gilded copper repousse bursts,* derived from the asemic cantos.
